Schrieber. 1977 BASEBALL SOFTBALL SCHEDULE Lynnhaven Kempsville Virginia Beach Princess Anne Bayside Independence Reflecting back on the '76 Trojan Baseball team, Plaza witnessed the restoration of the respect it duly deserved. It was then that we produced a team that posted a 9-3 record and finished second in the League. Losing the City cham- pionship in extra innings by a score of 1-0 was the biggest setback to a very successful season. This year's team is seen with much optimism. I feel that we are the 'team to beat' in the city. Joey Nlillis, Jack Graff, Brian Dees, and Jimmy Funaro are the returning lettermen. A quick pre-season look at the team would show Plaza with experience, a young and hard-throwing pitching staff, much more depth than last year, more speed, suffi- cient hitting, and very aggressive action. With such a com bination, I feel Plaza has an excellent opportunity to have a very successful season. - Coach Brumfield

SOCCER This is the first year that soccer has been a sport in the Virginia Beach Schools. The aim is to achieve the goals set before its players and de-feet other Beach district schools. The main purpose is to promote team spirit, friendship, and self-confidence through participation in the sport.
