The Outing Club is a back to nature group. They participate on weekend trips to practice backpacking and camping out. During the year, they sponsored an aluminum drive to collect re- cycled materials. Throughout their activities, they demonstrate deep concern for the environ- ment. The Student Instructional Advisory Committee is a select group of students from all grades. They meet together with the Administrators to share in planning activities in school. ODYSSEY STAFF m,,,..,,-f um-lr In September, our Yearbook staff gathered together to plan the strategy to make this book a memorable one. For the next ten months we met to carry out our plans. We worked with photographers, made many phone calls, sorted through pictures, and drew numerous sketches. By creating contests and surveys, we found new ways to involve much of our student body. We actively supported dances, games, and other club functions so that we could best represent Plaza life. After alphabetizing countless numbers of teachers' and students' pictures, we felt we knew each Plaza member somewhat personally. After a long day at school, we would groan when we came together to do the required ng for this book. When we were tired, we would ask other if this was a secret plot by our teachers to our spelling, grammatical, and mathematical skills. But we remember the times well - Editor Paula had to to, pleaded tol cover male althetics. . . artist did she draw the feet in this yearbook freehand or did she just trace her own shoes?... ever-loyal Sue mith - she came to the meeting the day after the KISS concert but fell alseep . .. Lee Wilson - given a ruler and a calculator and she performed miracles. . . Danny Berard - what did he do in that darkroom? . .. Dorothy, Athena, Julie, Scott Brinson, and Robert Smith - a funny thing happened on the way to the meeting' '... Lalaine's idea of fun - cramming 81 students into a bus. .. Photographers Rosita, Katie, and Lori - freezing on the football field but still taking pictures... Rosalyn Cowell and Kathy Fowler - we could always depend upon them for finishing touches and details... lVliss Kelly - why did she only buy Dum- Dum lollipops? . .. and in midwinter, did she really con- tract that rare case of yearbook fever? . . . and lVliss Sobel - will she be teaching the ODYSSEY Staff Navel maneuvers next year? But throughout, we laughed a lot - we also panicked - and then we laughed again. We knew that all staff members contributed what they could do best - selling yearbooks, keeping records, drawing layouts, writing paragraphs, and organizing and taking pictures. And, we are all justifiably proud of our finished product - the 1977 ODYSSEY. The Student Cooperative Association includes representatives from all homerooms who meet together to discuss problems and activities. They sponsor many charitable drives, athletic events, and dances. This organization enables all students to participate actively in student affairs. 43
