Speed's The Thing The Trojans entered their first track team into competition in 1970. The first year team was a building team but the Trojans did end the season holding three City Records. Joe Shray won the City Record in the 100-yard dash with a time of 10.7 seconds. He also established the City Record for the 220-yard dash with a speedy 23.3 seconds. The 440-yard relay team sprinted around the track in a flying 47.7 to capture the City Record in that event. Joe Shray, Richard O'Brien, John Bradley, and Mike Kennemer were on that record-setting team. As the 1971 Odyssey went to press the Trojan sprinters were once again warming up the track with returning veterans forming the backbone ofthe team. 1970 Plaza 72 Kempsville JHS Plaza 41 Bayside JHS Plaza 51 Virginia Beach JHS Plaza 58 Princess Anne City Meet Virginia Beach JHS 56 Bayside JHS 46 Princess Anne 45' 2 Plaza JHS -11 Kempsville JHS 1812 1970 TRACK TEAM: Row l: J.
