French Club Seeks Knowledge And Understanding vllvwvv 'mp The purpose of the French Club is to study and observe French culture and civilization and to promote better understanding of the way French people act, live, and think. At their meetings the club watched movies and slides of France. The FHA helps the individual to become a better school and community member. The club tries to promote good citizenship and thus produce better school leaders. The FHA organized for its first year at Plaza in September. At Christmastime they sponsored a drive for donations of food to give to needy families. Meetings were highlighted by many in- teresting programs including in December a film on Heritage. There was a speaker in Febru- ary who talked about drugs. Plaza Band Brings Music To Your Ears Music echoes around the halls of Plaza, music from the number one junior high school band in Virginia Beach. The Trojan Concert Band is a dedicated and polished performing group. At the Virginia Beach Music Festival in March they received three superior ratings from the judges. They also placed the greatest number of students in the All-City Band and had the most first chair playing positions. S The band provides music for the pep rallies, school assemblies, football games, and the annu- al Spring and Christmas concerts. From the Concert Band specialized groups are selected to perform and compete in ensemble competitions.
