Mayes, R. Jones, M. Gibson, Mrs. Lewis, Sponsor. The general purpose ofthe FHA is to help in- dividuals to improve personal, family, and com- munity life. The FHA helps the individual to become a better school and community member. The club tries to promote good citizenship and thus produce better school leaders. The FHA organized for its first year at Plaza in September. At Christmastime they sponsored a drive for donations of food to give to needy families. Meetings were highlighted by many in- teresting programs including in December a film on Heritage. There was a speaker in Febru- ary who talked about drugs. Young Geologists Collect Old Fossils The purpose of the Geology Club is to foster and direct student interest in the geological sciences so that interested students may learn more about geology than that prescribed in class. Past activities have included frequent trips to borrow pits and to the James River to collect fossils and trips to mining companies in the area. At their meetings the club watched movies and slides of France.
