Learn About The World The social studies team has been striving to make their subjects more alive this year. In order to achieve this goal they have used simula- tion games, audio-visual materials. and field trips. One big project was the World History classes' Dig. They learned how to put together a culture and how archaeologists uncover ancient cultures. The World Geography classes used audio- visuals and their own research to develop understanding of the problems of the world today. The U. S. History students have been learning about events that led to the building of our nation. Mrs. Sandra Williams

The Plaza English Team offers three levels of English to each grade: Average. Superior. and Remedial. Each class seeks to develop in the students a proficiency with language and an awareness of literature as a means of understanding man's relationship to his world. Self-expression is encouraged through writing and improvisation. The team uses the writing laboratory to assist the student in becoming self- critical of his writing techniques. MTS. During the year, science students undertook sev- eral interesting projects. Some students studied plant growth and development, some investigated the behavior and physiology of I I E I ll 6 1 t i 1 I 1, i I i i I f . l i i i white rats, and others observed the laws of genetics as they relate to the fruit fly. In early spring all Earth and Space Science students made a trip to the Rice's Fossil Pit to seek fossil specimens.
