Dedication This year’s 1972 Plattonian is dedicated to Mr. Jack Ilerweg, a man who came to I’HS in 1963 and began to create musical history. Mr. Ilerweg was born November 5 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. His occupational desire as a child was to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a railroad engineer. After graduating from high school he attended Parsons College in Iowa. While in college he worked with the railroad not as an engineer, hut as a cook in the dining car. Mr. Ilerweg’s family includes his wife, Pat; his son, Mark; and a daughter, Lisa. An example of his devotion to PHS is shown by the many early hand rehearsals he holds. Surprisingly enough he has held other unscheduled rehearsals in his sleep. Through the years he has led his hand to Winnipeg (Canada), Chicago, and the ASBDA Convention in Omaha, with occasional radio and television performances, and the cutting of a record. His two most outstanding accomplishments are his eight consecutive Superiors at Pershing, and most recently the Rose Bowl Parade at Pasadena, California. It is for this that the Plattonian Staff of 1972 proudly dedicates this annual to our favorite hand director, Mr. Jack Ilerweg.

High School Principal Mr. Fred Kaufman A new addition to the administrative staff this year is Mr. Fred Kaufman, the senior high principal. Mr. Kaufman was bom and raised in Bladen, Nebraska. He received his B.S. from the University of Nebraska, his M.S. from Kearney State College, and a six-year administrative certificate from the University of Nebraska. Before coming to Plattsmouth, Mr. Kaufman was principal for four years in the Burwell, Nebraska school system. His hobbies include hunting, reading, and collecting antiques. 9
