jtlA pOaitouiOM PMtimutLUig LQckcd Plodis mouth, Nehia kfr The class of 1963 dedicates this yearbook to Mr. Cecil Me- Knight for his sincere interest in all the students of Platts - mouth High School. It is with great pride that we honor Mr. McKnight, who has given un- selfishly of his time, his understanding, his humor, his knowledge, and his example to further the education of our youth of today. 2 f ADMINISTRATION Class of 1963: We travel this road but once! Because this is true, I sincerely hope your journey through the years of elementary and secondary education has been an endeavor filled with many beneficial and happy experiences. I know the keys to open other doors have been provided. And so, if you have taken and retained these keys, many wonderful and new challenges will be faced andsatisfactorily met by each of you as you unlock the gates on your adventures through life. Your record in the Plattsmouth School is one of which you can be justly proud! You have demonstrated your ability to take the little steps. Now, with these accomplish- ments, your parents and teachers are confident that you will be able to take the bigger steps along life's road. Always rely on God's direction and then use the keys of knowledge made available to you. Then your pathways will become much brighter. My best wishes to you as you travel into the world of tomorrow. a Secretary M;s. Williams The handmaiden of success is desire; and of wisdom, knowledge. Whether or not you or I possess these qualifications depends solely on the amount of freedom we enjoy. Whenever freedom is denied, desire is futile and empty while wisdom becomes non- exercisable. The only real guarantee we have of enjoying a continued freedom is vested in how well we are educated. To each and every graduate of 1963 goes my sincere wish for happiness and a success that can only be enjoyed through an abiding faith in God within a free society. May your future be filled with joys and pleasant pastimes, and may your many endeavors bring to you successes beyond your fondest dreams. These are my heartfelt wishes to each of you as you depart from Plattsmouth High School. Let us say the first milestone has been reached in your lives. You are now passing from us equipped with tools of workmanship which should, in turn, enable you to meet the problems of tomorrow with greater skill. Yet your task is an unfinished one. For your Commence- ment marks only the culmination of your high school activities and, at the same time, it introduces you to the beginning of a completely dif- ferent life in new surroundings filled with many challenges and tribu- lations. Many of you will seek further training to better cope with these challenges, still others will fit into the different trades, but, whatever your future plans may be, each of you will, in some measure, great or small, serve society as leaders of tomorrow, either directly or in- directly. You are, therefore, the masters of your own fate, and you will become, to some extent, the personages of your own destiny. Hence, I beseech you to strive, my young people, to determinedly attack the problems of another day by seeking that necessary training adequate to meet the issues which must confront you. Be ever and al- ways courageous as you aim decisively for the greatest goals, adhere faithfully to the highest ideals for Christian living, be worthy of your good name, be constantly appreciative of and loyal to your parents hopes and aspirations for you, be deeply respectful to your great America, and last, but surely not least, be forever devoted to your God and your religious beliefs and that precious success you so desire, and that priceless happiness you so aspire to attain, and that perfect con- tentment you so anticipate will all be assured you, completely, ever- lastingly and forever! And so, again, I say congratulations to each of you, my dear people! You have truly achieved the first goal in your pathways of life. It is now my ardent wish and my fondest hope that your future achievements may be truly filled with joys beyond compare and successes ever greater and even more wonderful than the goals you have thus far at- tained or have anxiously and ardently anticipated. May the blessings of the Holy Master attend each of you as you traverse the pathways of life. 86 May God and all His angels Watch over you each day, And keep you safe from harm As you travel on life's way. May the warm and gentle sunbeams Of God's delightful sun, Embrace you kind and tenderly Until the day is done. May every Heavenly star you see Carry a wish for you, As it twinkles magestically From out the midnight blue. May you share many pleasant hours With friends and loved ones dear. And know the joy and sweet content In bringing others cheer. May happiness delight your heart To make each dream come true, And God guide and protect you In all the things you do. May you see the glorious beauty In the sky and sea and sod, And close your eyes each night With a thankful prayer to God. These kind words were presented to the Senior Class by Cecil W.
