As we enter we hear that they are discussing the var- ious TV programs that are on that night. Joe rises, walks over to the TV set, and turns it on. The time is a little before 6:30 p.m. and as the pic- ture clears, we watch the end of This Is A Great?? Life! ! ! program with Dean French as Dennis, Jim Ulrich as Uncle Earl, Dan Huebner as Steve, and June Wagner as Mom. At 6:30 p.m. the program changes to Private Secretary with Mr. Peter Sands played by Don Faris, Miss Susie McNamara played by Bev- erly Sprieck, and Miss Vi Praskins played by Lois Gapen. Mr. Sands is trying desperately to get the production rights for Snipe Hunting In Af- rica which was written by Vernon Kaffenberger and stars Bill Gansmer and Sandra Burch. Mrs. York, now wanting to watch her favorite musical show, turns to another channel for the Ed Sullivan Show featuring Ron Nichols, who re- placed Ed Sullivan. Ron is introducing one of his star attractions, which, lo and behold, is now the world famous PHS Sextet with Minnie Etta Fra- zer, Beverly Harris, Deanna Hutton, Carolyn Larsen, Brenda Ofe, and Nancy Siemoneit. During the commercial, we find Shirley Traut and Nancy Holman demonstrating the new Super Atomic Lincoln Space Car which last year broke all mileage tests to Mars. The next attraction on the show is the famous ballet star Susette Feriece, formerly known as Janice Wiles, whose accompanist is that wonderful pianist, AnnWinscot. At 7:30 p.m. Joe switches to the other channel to watch the last part of the Colgate Comedy Hour, which features Jeannie Newton and her fast tapping routine , accompanied by thegreat concert pianist Margaret Eiting. The next program is I Love Loosely, featuring the lovable, charm- ing, and fascinating Joanne Livingston and Ed Egenberger in another one of their lovable adventures with their landlords, Carol Potschies and Herman Weber. Joe, overcoming Mrs. York's objections, insists on watching his fav- orite mystery, The Line Up, starring Larry Wiysel and Bill Weiss as the two trustworthy? loyal? and hard working??? ? policemen, who attempt to break up a vicious gang of kidnappers trying to steal the dirty bird from George Gobel's show, which has been taken over by Don Ger- beling. They took in suspicious characters , among whom are Jim Hanika, Lynn Fitzgerald, Gary Newburn, Francis Gochenour, and Ron Van Ackern. These men? ? are found guilty and are sentenced to twenty lashes with a wet noodle. Mr. and Mrs. York are not able to decide between The Medic , fea- turing the eminent Doctors Sally Amato and Joanne Keeley, who are try- ing to solve a baffling case of ARTEREALSCLERARIC OF THE CRANIUM, and The Big Story , with Don Beckman and his secretary Pat Hull. So they watched This Is Your Life with the honored guest being Miss Jessie Whalen, whose life as Senior Class Sponsor at PHS is portrayed. 22 Several of the graduated PHS students are there. Among them are Joyce Fitzgerald, President of the United Gum Chewers Association; Dean Biles , who has advanced to the President of the Hot Rod Club and Don Parriott, Producer of the Renowned Broadway hit, Arsenic and Old Lace. The program is now interrupted with an advertisement by Pat Carr who is demonstrating Bubbles shampoo. The time is 10:00 p.m., time for the weather, news, and sports with Weldon Stoehr and his Weather Bird Beannie (played by Darrel O'Neal). WINDY Lorin (Toman), News Commentator, gives his view point on the latest up-to-date news story, The Greatest Presidential Race of the Century, Will Tom Kraeger run for the President of the Pea Pickers Union or will Madam (Phyllis) Martin be nominated by her party? An- other top news headline is: The Continental (Roger Wehrbein) has been seen in his late model JAGUAR with Hollywood's two most prominent young stars. Rose Mary Nelson and Yvonne Fuller. Giving the Woman's view on Fashions is Rosalyn Koubek with her models, Karen Jacobs, Nancy Painter, Shirley Eledge, and Kay Kaffen- berger. Sport Commentator , Vernon Aylor , interviews the All-American Stars; Baseball, Denny Hirz; Basketball, Joe Grauf; and Football, Lorin Haase; the winners of the Stock Car Races--Gary Younker and Larry Meisinger; the winners of the Powder Puff Race--1st place-Shirley Hild, 2nd place-- Juanita Campbell, and a tie for 3rd place--Betty Thimgan and Barbara Lanum. Newest Olympic Volley Ball Stars--Donna Cooper and Cecelia Forbes. At 10: 30 p.m. we see Big Town with Ronald (Foto) Furse as the dar- ing young reporter, Steve Wilson, and Beverly Sullivan as his secretary, Lorilie. They are trying to solve the exciting case of Who Hit Horrible Hanna on Her Hard Head With The Heavy Hammer? The late show is a Cowboy Classic, starring Banjo Ulrich as the tall, dark, and handsome stranger saving the young, innocent ranch owner's daughter, Shirley Sudduth, from having the mortgage foreclosed on her ranch by the ornery, and no good Rusty Snodgrass. Just as the cattle stampede is heading for little Shirley and Banjo is riding gallantly toward her, the TV tube breaks! So Mrs. York tells Joe about the programs she saw in the afternoon. Well, fir st I watched 'Minnie's Kitchen1 with Minnie Hoscher and her two assistants, Betty Piper and Betty Morris. After that your niece, Sandra Sue, watched 'Miss Devil' (Judy Sikora) and Juvenile Jury with the moderator, Mr. C. A. Weddel. And so, with Mrs. York's resume of the afternoon activities along with a ruptured TV tube, the evening closes. Sandra Sue dreams of being a Judo expert, and the Yorks dream of another time when they can be amused and entertained by such an illustrious group as the Class of 56 . 23 Ti ee Senior FIRST ROW: Campbell, Toman, Heubner, Snodgrass. Highlights of the trip were a visit to the Board of Trade, a tour of Ford Motor Company, and a noon picnic lunch held at Swope Park. During the lunch time, many of the group visited the zoo at the park. After 3:00, the stu- dents had free time in which to go shopping, see a show, or just walk around and see the sights. About 12:30 that night, a bunch of very tired Seniors returned back to Plattsmouth from what, they agreed, was a very successful Sneak Day. County Government Day is held every spring. Candidates for the various city offices are cho- senfromthe Junior class. Twoparties, Nation- alist and Federalist, each nominate one candidate for each office at a school-wide caucus. Then follows an active campaign by the nominees, which includes speeches , posters and skits. The entire student body votes in the election. The winners then go downtown and spend one day with the city officials to whose office they have been elected. Those elected this year were: COMMISSIONER......Doug Study WELFARE DIRECTOR .
