Several school records were set and the girls scored well at major track meets. The 880-medley team of Lavonne Smith, Gwyneth Shoate, Diana Buckley, and Mamie Jackson placed first and led the way to an eighth place finish in the 22-school Bearcat Relays. Probably the best indicator of the girls' season was the conference track meet. The girls improved from a last place finish the year before, to a sixth place finish this year. Team leaders at the conference meet Were- Lavonne Smith in the 220-yard dash, Carol ing the season were Beverly Adams in the discus and Susan Shoemaker in the mile. With most of the team being freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, girls' track at Plattsburg should be even better next year. Stickford in the 880-yard run, and Robbin Ogle in the softball throw.
