Our Tigers ran into a tough schedule in the season by loosing the first four ballgames to Lawson, North Platte, West Platte, and Smithville, but the reason for this was lack of experience in playing a lot of younger players. , Looking at the season from the positive side, the Homecoming victory over East Buchanan, who ranked fifth in the state at that time, is hopefully a glimpse of future victories. ' ' The attendance record was broken at the homecoming game, and over all, the attendance at all home football ? games has never been higher. If the public continues to support the program and the large group of young lettermen continue to improve, Plattsburg should have many successful seasons in the future. The outstanding All Conference guys this year were: K. Quinn, offensive fullback, T. Downing, offensive center, T. Gentry, defensive end, R. Harris, defensive tackle, S. Dedman, offensive split end and defensive half- back, and B. Evans, defensive nose guard. lf39119.l1S afmgsuafag Uffensive Maneuver Xiang. gif cud ' J-EFF LARR Tm DOWNING -HM RICK is DEDMAN came HoLr1AN GRAN FARweLL KEVIN GENTR HARRIS BRAD ni' U-UYD nous DKINS GUINN SN ITH FLANNERY JQAHHUUW aagsuaffg Defenszve Strategy KE IN QUYNN ARUE EIERRDN I P-- 211 111-'1 11 3 1 ,, X 1 71 -1' 1 gw 'ski , -' ' ll I ' xl 'W l T' x 5 1 1 1 H 2 1 21 'E 'I' 1 315 1 1 1 1 1 1 , , 153 1' :N 1 1 2. 1 Q gi 'if 1f 'f - mu 'K X. -,xx 611 f Q Varszly Stands Proud The Vars1ty Che erleaders of the 1974 1975 school year were kept act1ve throughout the en t1re sports season W1th the support of the athletes pep club faculty and commun1ty they were able to meet the1r busy schedule They were busy cheermg for football, basketball, glrls basketball, and wrestlmg By perfor mmg at several assembhes wlth props from cakes to faculty football players , they trred to bu1ld more school sp1r1t and part1c1pat1or1 m the Varlous sports l' 1? 5 13 W '11 1 ' 19111 '1 111j 1 '12 1 , 3gg1'lgQ 1' gfy',1'r 1531 Q 1 11115 !1 l'1 111 Q ,g g 1 1 111, .15 ll ' -11 1 1 '21 il 11111333 1 3 '1 1 af31WlIl!lI 11 F,11fE Zl1 f1 1.5111 111 '11f 1 1 1 16' M 1 If ' 511 1 1 Z .- 0 . Although this was the first year as cheerleaders for most of the girls, they showed enthusiasm and excitement for the athletes. With the help of the Varsity Squad, they picked up the traits needed to become outstanding cheerleaders. Along with the Varsity squad, the B-team had na:-.nik several high points this season. They gave several parties for the athletes and the coaches. The girls who attended the State Wrestling Meet in Columbia really had a great time and met many new people. The girls had a lot of experiences during the 1974- 1975 season that they will never forget. The sponsors for the cheerleaders this season were Mrs. Harrington, Miss Sue Orr, and Mr. Robert Ogle. With their guidance and help, the season was a success. The band performed at all home football games, marched in the Homecoming Parade, not only here, but at other schools in the area. After football season ended, practice began for Music Festival and the Spring Concerts. 2 his The band was honored at the beginning of the school year when asked to entertain at the Missouri State Teachers Association in Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City. Even though the band was practicing for halftime at football games they took time out to practice for this memorable event. Later in the year they were asked to play at a conservation program at which Harold Ensley was the speaker. During Easter, volunteers from the band played at a Sunrise Service. At the end of the school year they marched in the Horse Show Parade. Each band member felt very honored to be a part of such events. We felt that we were im- portant to the community. Other things that will always be remembered are: Andy Gump playing Bulldog Drummin' , Brad Norton ac- companing the band on his guitar in Black Magic Woman and how could anyone forget Mr. Gregory throwing paper wads at the wastebasket... and missing. The cooks cook for an average of 300-350 students a day. It is plain to see that Mrs. Henry, Mrs. Hunt, Mrs. Welsh, and Mrs. Hathaway, Call pictured to the LEFTJ have work cut out for them each school day. The most popular lunch menus included tacos and fried chicken. One of their memorable events was the time the dis- hwasher broke down and all the teachers dried the dishes by hand. Even though there are forests of lunches to be prepared, each of these cooks enjoys the work she does. Earlier in the year Mrs. Divelbiss Cpic- tured CENTER with Mrs. Henryj was head cook, but unfortunately, because of illness in her family, had to leave. Mrs. Divelbiss worked in the school cafeteria for 20 years. .,.,.-m. ' .. :p.f9'f' ' ' Old Mother Hubbard's cupboard isn't the only one bare. PHS's refrigerators often are after lunch. From a group of girls that had hardly touched a basket- ball, a team was formed that played many other teams that have had es- tablished programs for quite some time. Although no games were won, the challenges, experiences, and opportunities that each girl gained more ac- curately measures the season. In this respect, the girls had a fine season. With twelve lettermen returning and more hard work, the girls are looking forward to adding winning to the many things they learned in their initial year of basketball. This years officers are, President- Larry Haun, Vice President- Raymond Farwell, Secretary- Katheleen Shoemaker, and Treasure- Jimalee O'Connor. To become a member of this club one is required to take a test in the spring. gMr. Pezel makes the test up of questions dealing with history, and the History Club students make up current event questions. The test is usually taken in the library and is limited to those who will be a junior or a senior. Shortly after the test, the History Club holds its annual picnic. This is when the officers for the following year are elected. This year the History Club showed two movies for a money making project. The movies were Duck Soup , starring the Marks Brothers, and Casino Royale, starr- ing Woody Allen and Peter Sellers. It was held on March 27, in the high school gym. Tickets were 51.25 for all. The money made from this went toward their trip to the UN Model Assembly, which was held at Park' College in Parkville. In football all the guys got in quite a lot of practice for this season and for future football in high school. Basketball was also a sport that many guys were in- terested in and they learned how to be good, dependable athletes. Track was new for just about everybody in Jr. High. Even though it was new, there were many who were interested. An award was given to the athlete who guessed the correct score of a given basketball game. The recipient of the Buffalo Chip Award CSHOWN BELOWJ was Paul CSparkJ Wilson. ' 1ei7:'?5t-:Zi zv5::'1e?7Q1?' ' rrffwi? e::,1ag:r,f.:f59 -......4 T' 5' W Nfl A K! -F - VJ.,-Dlruir -.Y V ,..i..... They tried to make the school-life easier. After thorough research and deliberation, plans were put underway for the installment of a telephone and also a pop machine. The addition of fruit machines was also discussed. The future use of a student government was also talked about. With the help of Student Body President Eddie Hackett and Vice-president Larry Grant, the council sponsored a very successful homecoming. For the first time in several years, the council took charge of the Courtwarming Dance, an addition to the PHS calendar of activities.
