TROJAN ’76 Platteview Jr.-Sr. High School Springfield, Nebraska Volume No. 17 Table of Contents Introduction..........................................4 Classes ..............................................5 Graduates............................................17 Faculty .............................................25 Activities...........................................33 Organizations........................................49 Athletics............................................63 Advertisements.......................................83 4 Spirit prevails The year 1976 not only marks the graduation of the Platteview seniors, but the nation's 200th birthday. Each of these events is a distinct happening. But as different as they are, they still hold a binding unity, and that unity is spirit. Spirit is a lively and brisk quality in a person or his ac- tions. This brisk quality is shown at Platteview by the battle-cries, graffiti, and the elation shown at the pep rallies. It is shown by the enthusiasm at the basketball games, football games, and wrestling matches, and the participation and cooperation in the many other ac- tivities. In the United States, this same quality is being shown by the many bicentennial celebrations planned in most cities, including reenactments of events that led to our in- dependence. Spirit is being shown throughout the coun- try in everyone and everything. We, of the yearbook staff have attempted to continue to bring you the memories of this spirit. It is our hope that this spirit will continue not only in this bicentennial year, but in following years as well. Gayle Anderson, Dawn Moss—co-editors Platteview Loyalty We're loyal to you, Platteview High We're loyal to you, Platteview High We'll back you to stand 'gainst the best in the land For we know you are grand, Platteview high. This area includes the space north of the gymnasium and the outside court grounds. Underclassmen talk about this area and wait in an- ticipation of being able to use it. It is a place where seniors may converse, play cards, study, or just relax. It is one privilege that seniors deserve and work towards obtaining. Platteview hallways: i A combination of elements 5 The making of a school lies partially within its hallways. This is where there is a constant presence existing. Whether there is noise with the banging of lockers, shuffling of feet, or just plain talking, it's all part of Platteview. Silence replaces noise, but still there is a presence felt. A presence of the echoes of everything that was there before. Perhaps there is more noise in an empty hallway, than a student filled one. Whatever the element—noise or silence, it's all part of Platteview. Couple reigns as King and Queen Everyone gets in the Christmas spirit. Elf Joanie Maystrick gives Christmas king candidates flowers. Sweetheart Dance termed successful Couples enjoyed dancing to the wonderful music provided at the Sweetheart dance. Stokes, S. 61 Council achieves many accomplishments The Student Council of Platteview have accomplished many things that have been very beneficial to the school. Some of these things are, getting a candy machine, which everybody seems to be enjoying. They also helped get more selection for the pop machine. Student Council was also a big supporter for Homecoming Spirit Week. For the new students, the Student Council started a Guide Service where they would show the new students around the school. The members of Student Council also attended the Student Coun- cil Convention at York, Nebraska this year. Council members stand in front of the pop machines they obtained.
