Mr. Eickhoff's typing class drills, drills and still drills, but in the end he always come out with a fantastic group of typists. Again this year, the Business Department participated in the Business Contest at Marian High School. Seventeen students competed in the contest from Platteview. D. Camenzind and S. Milks are the only two girls who received superior ratings. These typing students are working toward speed as well as controlled accuracy where drill is a fact of life. 19

Thick Cut Area Training girls for stenographic and secretarial positions is Mr. Ahl's main goal in life. He teaches his classes with a special brand of humor, and a relaxed atmosphere. The student is encouraged to make her own decisions on many complicated pro- jects. Alice Hibbler did her thing for the Christmas season. D. Camenzind, D. Adams and G. Jones are diligently typing. 18

Above, attentive seventh graders learn the fundamentals of social studies and English. The First Steps Mr. Troxel taught seventh and eighth grade block, speech, junior and senior class plays and coached Junior high bas- ketball. The seventh graders studied Greek Myths, the Adventures of Hercules, Ne- braska and the states history, and made maps and flags of the countries studied. They have looked at most all countries in the world and have compared them to ours. M. Milks, J. Schrum, P. Pulsifer, R. Rowe, and K. Schneider Mr. Troxel listens to his students carefully, during presentations and discussions.
