Population - 4000, Chief product - educated youths The office of the principal, ably occupied by lVlr. William E. Hanes, has come to be feared, respected and trusted by students, faculty and parents. For where does that power of authority and vitally important line of communication between the student and administration come from but that of the principal's office. No one will underestimate the physical stamina a principal must have in keeping the school in efficient running order and corralling 4100 young men and women into a unified group. lVlr. Hanes made daily rounds of various classes surveying the effect of the instructor's teaching methods and the physical conditions under which the student received his education. A typical school day began with the untimely absence of fifteen instructors, wandering students after the final homeroom gong had tolled, and finally a 2:00 meeting with one of the school board members. Many times lVlr. Hanes returned to oversee after-school activities as well. His day is never done. WRX g l llllllll William E. Hanes
