Plantation swimmers compete all over South Florida as The PHS Swimming team had a very profitable season. Swimming is becoming more and more popular as swim- mers compete all over Florida for state rankings. Hugh Trees, the team captain, is said to be one of the finest swimmers in Florida, as well as holding almost every school record, mainly long-distance freestyles. The team was also compiled of talented specialists as Greg Hoecker, who com- peted in sprints successfully all year and Bob Hughes, whose specialty was the butterfly. Tim Cunningham com- peted in the backstroke competition successfully all year to help the team become tough competition in their meets. Hughes and Cunningham also were helpful in compiling points in the individual medleys. Swimming was a top-ranked sport among the girls at PHS. lVlrs, lVlajorie Hill coached the girls this year as they not only competed in their regular season meets but went to Atlanta, Georgia to compete in the Southern lnterscholastic meet this year. A.
