Pride, spirit, courage give Colonels unified goal ' 1971 was an outstanding year for the Colonels. The team was ranked 4th in the state, the highest ranking ever achieved by any Colonel team. The Broward County Athletic Conference champion- 'ship and the District 7 AA title were the results of aperfect 10-O season. The 'highlight of the season was the game with perennial power, Fort Lauderdale High. At stake were -theyconference and District titles, as both teams were undefeated. No one will forget the thrill and excitement of that night as the Colonels brought home a hard fought victory. The play of the team and the enthusiasm of the student body will long be remembered. Special'awards were given out at the end of the year,..they were as follows: Charlie Gilbertson best blocker-, -Bob Van Kirk, most improved, Randy Kidld, most skulls, Chip Brockman, most stars, Phil Eason., Siva, Craig Smith, most valuable player, Tom Zipperly, most deserving. A. Johnsom scrambles for yardage. B. Zipperly cuts straight-through line. C. Eason stops Stranahan sweep. D. Strong defensive rush causes Stranahan to fumble. E.
