MwwMJ,,,,-f , BE r f-:Hin ' 9 ae . rv ,- -N Fw Left to rightg Forrest Jorgensen, Bob Wee ms, Betty Gayle Allen, Helen Wright, Ann Overton, Bill Rector. enior arm In September of 1942, we,the present Senior Class began our education at Planeview in the bar:-acks. For a Christmas present that year, the student body received a new high school building which since then has been the home of the Gremlins. The eighth grade year passed swiftly with brief encounters with Magazine English and Math. We came intothe ninth grade as full-fledgedhigh school students, proud of our stand- ing. That year we showed originality in our freshrnan assembly, which was a comical quiz program entitled Dr, P. U. After struggling with bandages and square knots in our first aid classes we passed to our sophomore year. , The sophomore year opened with grueling exercises under the direction of Larry Krehbiel and Katherine Krueger. The big event of that year was the class picnic spon- sored by Miss Martin and Mrs. Zimmerman. At the opening of our junior year we held a big campaign, with our candidate, J. B. Tarr, opposing the senior candidate, Harold McKel1ips, for the Student Senate Presidency. Then we turned our efforts to the Junior Play, 'Ever Since Eve. This play was suc- cessfully presented under the direction of Mrs. Ward. We used funds derived from the Class play, collectednewspapers to sell, and handled concessions at the basketball games in order to entertain the seniors at the traditional Junior-Senior Prom. The prom was held at the Broadview Hotel and was the outstanding social event of the year. We com- pleted our junior year under the sponsorship of Mrs. Wells, Mrs. London and Miss Logan. On September 13, 1948, the present Senior Class began its final year in the halls of P. H. S. under the sponsorship of Mrs. Brown and Miss Cook. The remainder of our his- tory will be told as the pages of this book unfold. 7
