CLASS PROPHECY As I was walking on Seventh and Vine-- Not doing much, just killing time-- I saw a sign which plainly said, 'Come in and have your fortune read.' Now sears are fakes so I started by, But I was stopped short by a muffled sigh. It came from the teller who just came outg She said, 'Young man, in your face is doubt. 'I can tell you the future, present, and past. I will even tell yourthe thought you had last. You were thinking of youth, of days of yore, Come in--see the Seniors of '44.' The temptation was great, so I followed within To a little old room where the lights were dim. I'm telling you straight, this is what I did see As the mystery globe showed things to me: I saw Richard Harrison on the Southern Sea: A Rear Admiral now he seemed to be. An Amphibean landed and I did see Marine Claude Bard waving gaily at me. The scene then shifted to old New York To a rltzy nightclub called 'The Stork'. Glenn Keas and Dale Rempe owned the place And had blondes crowded into every space. But owners of such are not enough, There ust be someone the toughs to bluff. Richard Carmicheal and Keith Harrison are nbouncers' indeedg And they sing, dance, or play, according to need. Then in walked Miss Simms, a lovely thing She's a Towers model since last Spring. With her came Norva Jean Shepard, her designerg In all New York there is no finer. The globe was darkened, about to change, When I saw Arden Gilbert on the Texas Range. An airplane went over and made cattle bolt, But it was the pilot who gave me a jolt. The ship was named the Los Angles Clipper, Flown by Elaine Westlake, a cute little flipper, You would not think to see on so fair That she's known as the 'dare-devil of the a1r.' And now I was moved to Washington, D. C. To observe who the political bosses might be. There President Wise was just taking his seat-- He gave Franklin Roosevelt his first defeat. His red-headed secretary, Dorothy Mcdhghy, Did all his hard work every day. Norma Jean Hamel retained her good looks Though she slaved all day long at the presidents books. Then there was 'Slip' Slansky, Secretary of Treasury to you, His feet on his desk and his eyes shining blueg Then Clarence Rempe came down the hall-- A S1-a-year man since last fall. Then next I saw a beautiful scene And Albert Bryant in the Argentine. Plenty of wine and song were there, And many a damsel with raven hair. And once again the scene was new-- Only ice and dark sky met the view: The Eskimoes whistled and set up a clamour For Berenice and furnished Alaska's first glamour.
