JUNIOR PLAY The junior class presented A READY MADE FAMILY on December 10, 1945. It was directed by Mrs. Donald Wood. The play concerns Mrs. Agnes Martyn fGwenneth Markleyj, a widow, who has fallen in love with a childhood sweetheart, Henry Turner KBernard LaGesseJ. Henry's children, Doris Cletta Hrabel and Sammie KDon Bartlettl decide to try to break up the romance by assuming fits and com- plexes. While Agnes's children, Bob IJames Hrabel and Marilee CLouise Glick! and Gracie CMargaret Wisej, with the help of her sister-in-law, Miss Lydia Martyn fFerne Martini, add their bit to break up the romance also. The negro cook, Begonia QJeannette Catudalj and the colored Handyman, Nicodemus CLeo Hamel! lend a comic element to the situation. With some handy scheming from both Agnes an Henry, they all live happily ever after. DRAMATICS The dramatics department gave the annual Dramatics Evening April 28. The class presented a three act play. OPERETTA On March first the music department presented the first highschool musical drama given in Plainville for several years. The light opera, CARMELITA, has a romantic Spanish setting with brilliant costumes, choruses and dancing. The solo and speaking cast include Senora Valverde CMarcelline Bissettlg Carlos fRobert Hutchinsonl, her song Carmelita fNorma Leigh Gilbertl, her daughterg Juanita fmartha Lancasterl, and Louisa KLouise Glickj, friends of Carmelitag Don Pablo Arrendando de Leon fNorman Wise, bethrothed to Carmel1ta3Jose Armijio fDale Walraven, an admire of Juanitag Henry Post fLyle Meredith, a .young American in love with Carmelitag Pat 0'Too1e CRichard Garmicheals a member of Pat's part: Sally Spencer lshirley Hustedj, an American girl: Juan Aleita lGa1l Mosherj, young Pueblo Indian: Dona Concuelo Arguello fMargaret Wisel, a lady of importanceg Armelita KElaine Westlakel and Dolores CJoyce Giintherl, and soldiers 1Dale Rempe, Glenn Kees, John Jaco, and Melvin Ruderl, bodyguard to Don Pablo. The chorus of neighbors, servants, rancheros, Indians and Americans are the choir.
