SCHOOL PLAYS SENIOR PLAY 'Meet My Wives ' was a three act play given by the senior class of 1941 at the high school gym February 21 This play was coached by Mr Eckart and Mr Smedley Billy Zanders Bob Dougherty a young man who is trying to marry his uncle off to Prudence Whitney his fiance's sister so he can marry Ann Ann Whitney B1lly's fiance is a young attractive girl who couldn't marry Bi lly unless someone married her sister, for love instead of money This part is played by Mlckey McDaniels Hank Evans Blllys best friend is a young man of about 25 years of age This part is played by Fred Glick who ls in love with Cuddles LaRose but who ha play Billy's uncle because the real uncle has seen a pifture of Prudence and cause she ls so homely that a mud fence would refust to even come and see her 1 rea l fe Cuddles LeRose a chorous girl whom Hank is ln love with is played bv Shirley Clarke Cuddles comes out to Alix Wares house where Blllvk Hank are staying, t get her opera purse which she left in Hank's coat pocket the night befo e Alix Ware a young man just married but whose wife leaves him because she thinks he has been out with another wolan This part is played by George Taylor Loretta Ware Alix wife is played by Betty Jane McCauley, she has a jealous nature and is doing her best to break Alix from smoking, drinking R playing poker Prudence Whitney Ann's old maid sister is razy to marry but thinks no man would marry her for her self alone and not for her money This part is played by Lois Williams Mama Thwacher Loretta Ware's mother is played by Charlene Mock Mrs Thwa acker who is alergic to peanuts comes to visit Alix and Loretta, the same day that Alix has substituted peanuts for cigarettes During his mother in law's visit Alix threw peanuts all over her and nearly kills her Olaf Swanson was played by Clifford McCune Be is a big raw bonedswede who had an awfully hard tlme keeping his girl friend Tes ie the cook Tessie Heimberger the cook was played by Flora Lee Allison She couldn t de cide whether Hank loved her or just said he did so she would cook him fine meals ally got up nerve enough to come and see what Prudence really looked like But everything finally comes out all right, uncle Zeb and Miss Prudence get married so then Miss Prudence lets Billy and Ann get Married and Loretta comes back and apoligizes to Alix for belng so jealous The swede, Olaf takes his bride Tessie back to Wisconsin And of ourse Cuddles wouldn't let Hank get away from her and Mama Thwa ker goes home to get away from those horrid peanuts, of course this pleases Alix very much JUNIOR PLAY 'whistling in the Dark,' a comedy in three acts was given by the junior class December 13, 1940 This was a play about a plain middle lass family, the Dunn's Bobby Keith Williams who is the only boy in the family is an amatur invent tor while his sister Julia Dorothy Doplta aspires to be an actress Gall Irene Peavey is the oldest daughter in the family and that is all f the family excepting Oliver Dunn Lawrence Alexa the father and Elanor Dunn Marjory Adams his wife Mickey Charles Barber Bobby's pal and buddy Step and bringit Keith Hilgers colored boy freind of Dinah Arlene LeGesse the colored maid Betty Lou Bernice Mock Bobby's girl friend Zeta Doolittle Louise Hesse is the neighborhood gossip and Gloria DarlinglDoolittlel Joy Bray is her daughter,erstwhile movie actress right fresh from Hollywood Dick Allen Kenneth Giggey is a friend of Gai1's and lr Bartell LeRoy Harrison is a movie director The plot of the story is how Julie practices being an actress and then Gloria Darling shows up end vamps Bobby away from BWP! Lou and Dick away from Gall but Betty Lou and Gall win out in the end lhe old homestead is about to be lost but Mr Bartell, the movie director comes and buys the home and saves the day Dick finds a buyer for Bobby's invention and Dinah and Step and Brineif- SP9 '50 be Nfl' led in the last a t and everything turns out well and they live happily ever after except possibly Mrs Doolittle 25 I l - ls to J be- , n . . .
