In this group were 15 lettermeng five seniors, five juniors, and three sopho mores. Thls year has seen Coach Eckart's third highly successful squad in suc- cession. In 1937 the Cardinals were undefeated and in 1958 their average was .B75. Jack Buchhe1ster and Delmar Winters, senlors, were capable managers and Paul Whitmer was line coach. Alvln Benedick and Roy Hagemann, seniors, and Fred Glick, jun1or, were elected co captains. Most of the boys played in at least one first team game thls year. For those who do not graduate the experience received in games w1ll prove valuable next year. At the beglnn ng of the season, Superin- tendent Wiley promised the boys a banquet if they would win over half the games. Their average was .88B.
