The Preps QLQ0 I4 dltill' s N011 It has been the custom of former years to allow the Preps but one page in our Annual and on that page they have always left the picture of their phlzs We have dl pensed with this custom and have allowed them another page on which they should put thelr write up We have our doubts as to the advlsablhty of this move and fear the consequences Should the very foolishness of thelr work although It IS no doubt the best they can do affect your mmd so as to endanger a mental shock kmdly think who wrote It and remember that they are as yet not even Freshmen Hopmg no bad effects will follow we remain Mother Nature was in an Zittllllm e of mmd not exactly despondent or pessimistic yet certainly not optimistic Something seemed to be wrong She felt like making faces at somebody But upon look mg around nobody was to be seen but the man ln the moon and he was busv trying to stxr up an ex tlrct volcano to warm by so he wouldn t look Con sequently the face was not made She felt like hav ing revenge on somebody for something for what she dld not know She felt like debatlng the question however would neccessltate her doing all the debating on both sldes herself and acting as three Judges lh the end She concluded therefore that she didn t know what rlght was and that everythmg was wrong any how She wanted to shake her fist at everythmg and nothing to throw her hat down on the ground stomp it out of shape and sav By whack Just at things ln general you know She just wanted to dm something rash and outrageous Her temper was not ln an ex plodmg condition but just sizzling The problem as to what the act should be was so great and the impossibility of iindlng a practical solution seemed so eminent that there was great dns turbance abroad The craters of the moon enlarged their circles and Vesuvius blew off lts cap of snow and melted enough that rlvulets ran part way down its sides Then peace and quiet came suddenly not Just a httle at a time but suddenly Mother Nature had looked ahead a tew millions ot years and saw certain Yours very truly THF EDITORS conditions existing among the children of men and re allzed that certaln individuals known as Preps would be a necessity or that such would exist at any rate and she thought she would have revenge enough or get even with everythmg for a few geological ages at least by the accumulation of a group of individuals known as the Flghth grade of Plalnvllle As soon as that thought entered her mmd every thmg became calm and Nature has smlled ever since No they were not especially precoclou these young very Yet perhaps they were slightly PTBCOLIOUSID one respect that of their language Under the ln struction of eight different teachers yOu find them what you expect them to be a learned and accomp lished bunch What IS to become of all of them? I am sure I do not know About one third will probably drop out before enterlng High School and some afterward The other two thirds alter graduating from Hugh School will probably fit themselves out with horses and wagons some bottles of colored liquid a musician banjo player and vocal artist combined a httle walnut Juice and an aboriginal name then they will tour the country txvlng their luck as ventrlloqulsts or clalrvoy ants and some will probably become weary ln the early part of the Journey and become someones fiance or fiancee At any rate they will all meet with re'- markable success Yes all wlll we rk actively and Mother Nature will smile satisfied 55 i!! ,f I O w n 9 1 I 'S . . . . . . . . .
