Never failing to do the wrong thing, we used the wrong stairs, entered the improper classrooms and felt that we had chosen the wrong subjects, as the day went on. Our course straightened itself out as we elected Bill Thomas, Robert Woods, Barbara Nevelos, and Julia Kata to steer our ship. Our eventful year included a Senior-Freshman reception and class parties, all under the direction of Miss McGrail. Sophomores already! Hmt,-,and pretty smooth ones at that! We proudly managed the little Freshmen on that following September day. Clf only they could have seen our quaking hearts! D Class officers again, and again Bill Thomas was overwhelmingly elected president. He was ably assisted by Ken Kochanski and Benigna Lopez, while Mr. Piurek joined in on our fun at a Saturday night party. School days fairly tumbled by and high marks became ever harder to acquire. Imagine, 95 for an Af but we managed to live through it. Finally that important day in September arrived and we returned to P.H.S. as real upperclassmen-juniors. We elected Red Ratcliffe, Don Dalena, Ken Kochanski and Katherine Ciccolella as our class leaders for the year. Our class rings became difficult objects to obtain, especially since Mr. Bernardo, our advi- sor, left our faculty. We will be eternally grateful to Gertrude Hannon who stepped in and straightened us out. Our Prom was to be the greatest and most momentous of all such affairs at P.H.S. and we really saw to that. The beautiful embankments and ceiling of flowers were put up through the diligence and patience of Miss Hannon, Mr. Sweeney, the Art Department, and, oh, yesl- the juniors. Our lovely feminine classmates really presented a problem to the judges. They finally selected Jean Daniels as Queen of the Prom, and from among the other stunning beauties present, Joanne Phelps, Anne Marchetti, Mary Stanley and Beverly Schaefer were chosen to attend the Queen. Oh yes -we musn't forget our own Dominic Mercugliano as King We let things ride for a while and closed the year with a bang-up party at which everyone ate an unusual number of hot-dogs. After dreaming and plotting all summer, we returned to our school as mighty Seniors. Not to waste any time, we immediately picked our executives: john Villardi, George Ventrelli, Katherine Ciccolella and Don Dalena. Setting a new precedent, our Senior Ball was held in December and was one of the most successful P.H.S. has seen. During the year, our new principal arrived and we did our best to show him what our four years at high school had developed in us. Although the war had ended in the summer of '45, we shall adhere to our accelerated program and graduation exercises are to be held on June 14th. There are still many exciting events to be anticipated: Class Night, Baccalaureate Service, Senior Assembly and Commencement itself. It will be a sad, yet happy, proud, yet reluctant, class of '46 that will march down the aisle that evening and thus conclude one of the happiest of our periods of life. Out we shall march with one thought, and that: Today we follow, tomorrow we lead. 25 Q QE 5 Wim CLASS OFFICERS Em 252 fc 3255 ofllmd D-12121-4 o Qmwi U ZESQ pdf!! sz D 535m i-.............-f ' I 93 ,Hr Q XS is 'E E XS CLASS OFFICERS Z 54 N ...gang B,.z ::a EABQ MEZEM z 30' FJQLQQ r.u4Uu4 mwfm E552 X SS S 1 be QE Rs S XS. ai CLASS OFFICERS ROP BETH LATH I-T-I 1: E 52 '-'E EES QCZU ISJQ E952 B Qt .il diviiries fX 7 L-A f f 1lr',','L 'fy, f If x fa f 41 5 U5 ,E U VJ PL k f ' N ...J JS DANCING CLUB These students enjoy getting ro- gerher socially every Week for a very successful period of dancing. We rest a few minutes to hear Betty jane Holcomb, comedian star on a radio program sponsored by Allen Sweig, head of Krunchy Pop Corn Co. Alice Eaton and Mary Stanley are the owners of the Deluxe Hat Shoppe on Farmington Avenue in Plainville. We stop in at Philip Johnsons Department Store to find Dorc.hy Fuller as one of the best dress designers in that part of the country. In a very smart night club, Katherine Johnson is singing with George Ventrelli, his saxophone and his Orchestra. Grace Hahn is the author ofthe current best seller. We stop for a mid-afternoon snack in the sunny kitchen of Gladys Griffin, wife of our Ambassador to Egypt. Next door in a cozy little bungalow lives Doris Ritchie, the wife of a successful business man. The children in the neighborhood go to the local school where Beverly Schaefer is physical education teacher. We also pick up the latest word on Sabu Santacrose, the famous Drummer 34 Boy of the day. Howard Scotton is a very busy foreign correspondent. We find out that Betty Seeds is superintendent of nurses at Bristol Hospital. Bill Thomas is our tall, good- looking forester, busy with his conservation projects. Robert WaHcer is operating Walker's Grocery Store. We stop at the local studio to listen to Ruth Wilber, present-day Louella Parsons. She tells us all the latest, including that Bob Woods is principal of P.H.S. We now arrive in the States to see Anne Marchetti, chief editor for a big newspaper. She lives with Nancy Mason who is working in one of the big department stores and Catherine Mastrianni, a school teacher. In the same town lives Helen Matson who has as her occupation the Noble Profession, the housewife. As we reach Chicago we see Gloria Mengual at the head of a Girls' Personnel School. Next is Georgia where Walter Plasko is married and working in an air- plane factory. In Maryland, Connie Ploucauet is working as hostess in one of the bigger night clubs. Kenny Kochanski is an aeronautical engineer. Mary jane Lippia and Myrna Tedesco are currently co-starring in the hottest hit off Broadway. Ruth MacQuarrie keeps the home fires burning while her sailor husband sails the seven seas. We look in at Columbia to see john Hammer majoring in Current .Events We attend graduating exercises at a local college to see Nancy Turner receive her M.D. In this atomic age, the entire trip has only taken a few hours. We have buzzed up and down our coast, back and forth from Plainville, to which we finally return, for it is now a city with its own mayor, Eddie Noe, who got his experience being president of high school clubs and organizations.
