Willie Ansley Recognized For Overall Contributions Lions Club President and PHS Principal Jerry Don George Senior Willie Ansley receives the LaVerne Roach award for 1988 in recognition of his contributions to PHS. presents Willie Ansley with the LaVerne Roach award at a Special Honors Presentation. Along with being LaVerne Roach runner up, senior Pat Nash also takes home the Most Valuable Player award for Basketball. Dayna James presented at 36th annual Queen's coronation Since 1951 students at Plainview High School have elect- ed a school Queen, who is presented Doth at Homecoming halftime and Queen Coronation ceremonies. During halftime ceremonies at the October 2nd Home- coming game, Dayna Lynn James, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry James, was announced as 1987 reigning Queen. (See bottom right picture below) On November 8, the senior class presented a special ceremony honoring the Queen, her court, and Loras and Ladies of the senior class. The Queen's court consisted of Princesses, Candace Han- sford, escorted by John Hamilton; Melissa White, escorted by Ken Wilson; Becki Harris, escorted by Lee Keller; Lori Felon, escorted by Nick Luna and Juana Cordero, escorted by Doug Wooley. Kent Haley served as Queen's footman. Presenting the scepter to the Queen was Executive Coun- cil president Raymond Pena. The traditional Red-rose bou- quet was presented by senior class president Ronny Ballard. Queen Dayna James models the white silk gown and white and red robe worn by all 36 former P.H.S. queens.
