Kanit has made his home this year with the Marshall Pharr family: (Seated) Terri, Mrs. Pharr, Kanit, Mr. Pharr and Mark. (Kneeling) Denise and Angela. “It’s a different way of life” During Student Council Installation, Mark Mangum concentrates on his speech while Kanit listens to Kurt Caddell explain some of the “American ways.’ Kanit Smutrat, this year’s AFS student, came from Rayong, Thai- land. Describing Americans as “sometimes different,” Kanit emphasized that he is very fond of the country. He especially mentioned the warm- heartedness of the United States, and stressed “I hope to return some day.” In the meantime, Kanit will carry home with him memories of his favorite food, pizza, and his unforgettable ping pong games! “Look out! Here it comes!” Kanit plays one of his favorite hobbies—ping pong. 29
