Lords, ladies share spotlight Royalty mounts the throne as Queen Cheryl smiles at the formal court. Pages Olivia Hernandez, Karrol Henry, Debra Burnett, and Angela Herron complete the picture. October 12—It was a night to remember. At 8 p.m., the traditional spotlights focused upon narrators Tommy Culpepper and Carol Cook, and “Coronation ’73” had begun. With Karen Schoppa at the organ, the lords and ladies of the Senior Class, approxi- mately forty-eight in number, each took a turn “front and center” and became a part of the royal court. At the heighth of the evening, heralded by trumpets, Princess Lori Young made her appearance, escorted by Kenneth Martin. Her Royal Highness, Queen Cheryl Cox, next walked down the traditional red carpet in the footsteps of former PHS queens. Crowned by Student Council President Mark Mangum, and awarded the scepter by Senior Class President Nick Grant, the Queen addressed her royal subjects. Music by the A Cappella Choir rounded out the evening in the PHS auditorium. Jerry Wilboum and Debbie Thomas share a quiet moment at the after-Coronation dance which enhanced the evening. 19
