fxeea 2415444 at F7975 Amidst all the pageantry and ceremony befitting royalty and in a spectacular array of charm and color, her Majesty Queen Barbara of the House of Hackler was crowned QUEEN OF PLAINVIEW HIGH SCHOOL in the sixth annual Coronation ceremony on November 6, 1956. Queen Barbara was attended by a royal court of eighty-four Lords and Ladies from the Realm of the Senior Class of Plain- view High School. A fanfare of trumpets by four court heralds in full band uniform opened the program with a traditional splash of sound and color. Master of Ceremonies, Edwin Pierce, President of the Junior Class, announced the arrival of the Queenis court. They appeared in the archways as they were introduced-the Ladies of the Court breathtakingly beautiful in fragile rainbow-hued dresses fashioned of velveteen, taffeta, and satin, the Lords gallant and dashing in black tuxedos- and moved to the sides to. form a bright background of royal color to receive Queen Barbara. Following their presentation Student Council President Bobby Jack Frye and Garland Wolfington, President of the Senior Class were presented. Then, preceding the arrival of the Queen, came Princess Donna Hanks, escorted by Eugene Barton. Another fanfare and the slow royal procession began with the Queen regal in white satin, carrying the huge bouquet of red roses and attended by four pages. Upon Queen Barbara's arrival, she knelt and was crowned by Bobby Jack Frye and Garland Wolfington presented her with the scepter, symbol of her position and authority. After the Queen's proclamation, Fay Elliff entertained the Court with piano selections. Barbara was elected Queen by popular vote of the Student Body. Nineteen nominees were entered in the race. In the run- off election Barbara defeated Donna Hanks, who was named Princess of Plainview High. Approximately one hundred and twenty seniors participated in the program which has come to be one of the highlights of the school year.
