SCENE: TIME: SETTING: INEZ: SUE: INEZ: FILLMORE: SUE: FILLMOREZ CLASS PROPHECY A home of two little old maids in the middle of the residential section of town. One summer afternoon in 1965, Miss Sue Son is sitting in the parlor with her knitting when Miss Inez Andrews brings in an old friend. Sue, Sue, look who I met down town! Why, itls Fillmore Hendrix-where on earth did you come from? Come right on in and rest your weary feet and I'll have Pearl to fix some tea. Tell us about all your travels and where all of our old friends are now. Well, to begin with I just came from California where I saw Glenn McElroy finish making another hit picture with Ruth Elizabeth Nowlin as his leading lady. The name of the picture is Going Places. Be sure and see it when it comes here. I was taking some of films of my trip to Africa to Metro' Goldwyn'Mayer and I saw The Handrews SistersfMiss Rhoda Mulkey, Miss Eleanor Hooper, and Miss Lou Watson. Of course they are getting a little old too. but, you can't keep a good team down. Their costumes for all the shows that they make are designed by the former Pat Traylor who is now Mrs. Jimmy Wallace. Coming from California, the bus broke down and we had to stay at the famous Bar X Ranch House. Imagine my surprise when I found out that Bruce Buchanan was the owner of it. They were having a cattleman's con- vention. Burrell Naylor, Billy Seal, W. H. Hicks. and Ellis Spraggins were among the ones that I knew. While there we found entertainment at a night club three miles from the ranch, and who should be the proprietor but Ioe Carver. He recognized me and showed me around his place of business. Of course, you know and I know that there were no illegal occurrences. but I don't understand why a few people kept asking for Bill fHackj McDaniel. My old friend. Russell Hoffman. was the bartender. XVe discussed old memories over a glass of warm milk. tHe is still in love with Lou, I found out.j And. he goes to Hollywood as often as he can to ask her hand in marriage but Lou doesn't believe in rushing into anything. Don Hart must have been the bouncer because I saw him assisting Bobby Gentry on his way out. The following morning we were on our way again and the next thing I knew I bumped into Inez on the street and here I am. Tell us some more. There are a lot of them that we haven't heard from in a long time. Well, the original quartet of '45': Carl Myer, Ernie Miller, Orvil McCartie and Bob Irby have gained their fortune. They are known as The White Spots. When I was in Chicago I saw Betty Jones on the street. She is married to a millionaire. They have four children. You never saw a happier woman. Io Etta Adkinson, Jean Schawe, Gwenelle Jacobs and Betty Jo Smith, have all been disappointed in love and are now sponsors of a lonely hearts club. SUE: FILLMORE: INEZ AND SUE: Do you remember Newell Sanford and Mary Jane Stucker? Well, they have a famous orchestra in New York, and they have been married for some years. They have a son who plays the piano with drum sticks. Mary Jane Hamilton is singing at the Metropolitan Opera House and I heard that Charlene Crow is coming up fast in the music world. On one of my trips to Boston I stopped in at the public library to read up on some detective theories and who should be there but Pat Duncan as librarian. Lewis Kiker and Lloyd Greenwood are playing in the New York Symphony Orchestra. They are still exchanging first chair. ,lo Wilmeth became a suc' cessful model but finally became Mrs. Edwin Adams. They have a huge ranch in Nevada. I saw Thomas Field on my last trip to England and he mentioned that Betty Kingery had married Lord John J. Lockey who, by the way, is 6 feet, 7 inches tall. Nathalie Johnson is still looking for the perfect man. She has been married six times. Her friend, Nina Baggenstoss, has differed from her in the fact that she has never married and is a hit producer on Broadway. She is pro' ducing a show now featuring Carol Ann Collyer and Hoyt Curry in the leading roles. Johnny Hinds has a small eating place in Brooklyn called Iohnny's Nifty Dine and Dance Joint. Right next door. Claude Blair has a wrecking yard. On the other side, Winfred Chunn has an undertaking business. john Thompson and Henry Fischer are debating whether to go back to Oklahoma or to Throckmorton. Emmett Myers and Floyd Robbs own a turkish bath establishment in Los Angeles, Virginia Ashley and Peggy Baxter are teaching school in Plainview High School. Vilas Zeigler was an air hostess for a few years but she is now married to a pilot. Eva Guthrie is also working for the air lines. Catherine Pace has finally decided to marry Joe Carver. She wanted to succeed in the world before settling down and she has achieved that goal by being an interpreter of foreign languages for the federal government. Well Fillmore, all these things are very interesting-now tell me-have you ever stepped upon the uhfuh-threshold? No, I never have. We see right now that we are going to have a very nice visit!!!
