Superintendente To THE STUDENTS or PLAINVIEW HIGH: According to information from the Federal Office of Education there are more than a million fewer students in the public high schools this year than there were two years ago. It is obvious that the armed services, slightly, but war work, shortage of labor and high wages to a greater extent, are responsible for this decrease. At the Plainview High School the picture is different.- The population of the area that our high school serves is a- bout the same as it was last year, but our high school inroll- ment has actually increased 6.5W. The Principal reported a few weeks ago that the attendance was better for this time of the year than it ever has been and that the pupils are un- usually earnest and puposeful in their work. For this noble record, I wish to extend to you my sincere congratulations. This indicates that, in spite of monetary temptation on every hand, you are determined to get an education. This indicates that you are mindful of the fact that anyone can get a job now but that in the future, when competition will be keen, only those who have the best training will hold the most desirable positions. Such determination and such planning will enable you to block, tackle and carry the ball in the game of life. Sincerely yours, O. J. Director To all of the pupils- of Plainview High School, and to all of our ex-students we extend this annual reminder of our faith in you, in the cause of education, and our hopes for your future. At this moment most of our pupils are forced to plan their education, and their lives, for the pursuit of war. Our ex-students are in the far parts of the world or are in training to go to these places. We believe that we are helping those who are yet with us to train themselves to be better citizens. We believe that those who are far away are better for having spent some time in Plainview High School. We are persuaded that the time spent in education has been a profitable in- vestment for every one of the thousands of our former students. We hope that your spirit has grown great and more noble as your knowledge has increased. We hope that you may all be privileged to return to Plainview, or another place of your choice, to work diligently at peacetime vocations and to build homes where love and good humor are ever present. Yours Sincerely, R. W. DAVIDSON 1. up as f . 7 i X F 'v rl ' tall N K Xf ,af '- Nj .W QR-KXLY. Vg . DEN, semi. MA I- V ND J' ,X -i 'H 'Y' ,il f im l' J film 5, , imp! . xg A - Low.
