During the year the F.T.A. held a Christmas party for the mothers, at which time each mother was presented a gift made in class, and a Valentine party for last year's normal trainers at Lois Wesche's home. They also presented a Christmas gift to the hospital. As a grand finale to the whole F.T.A. program, the organization plans a picnic for any persons who have graduated at any time from the Plainview normal training course. lf -i, Future Teachers??? F,H.A. -- More Fun Than a Barrel of Monkeys. Using this theme, the F.H.A. made a prize-winning float for the Klown Karnival during the summer. When school started, the organization held a scavenger hunt and watermelon feed for all freshmen girls. At a later meeting, Mrs. Mabel Trump explained and demon- strated different flower arrangements: in addition she showed the group clever ways of wrapping packages. Many of the members attended the District Convention at At- kinson. In November, the girls and their parents enjoyed abanquet based on the theme, Teenagers Today--Homemakers Tomorrow. Angel Sister Week, another F.H.A. activity, was held during the Christmas season. A large crowd attended the basketball game of the Missiles vs. the Rockets presented by the F.H,A. At one of our meetings, Tina Mauck demonstrated hair-styling and make-up application. Leo Kmiecik and Helen McMahon were crowned King and Queen of Hearts in February. Chauncey Harrison, Barbara Peterson, Paul Gustman, Sandra Casselman, Shirley Shoemaker, Larry Schaefer, Bonnie Baber, and Richard Reikofske were attendants. The coronation and the dance which followed carried out the theme Kissin' Cuzzins. Several parliamentary procedure teams competed in a local elimination contest. A drill team was sent to the district contest. A film on civil defense and a demonstration on first aid com- pleted the year's program of work. At a candlelight ceremony in May, the new officers were installed and degrees were awarded. ., 1, 8 f., . M. ig- m,..7f- I ....f..,.., X Qu., ,I :.i ' 1.0-...f A ,, , ,, X f ii I. - 0.
