S ' Claw ' A, .7644 All aboard the Pirateer for the year 1951I On September 3rd, 43 Freshman pirates walked aboard to begin their first journey in the good ship, the P. H. S. Pirateer. Welcoming them aboard were Mr. Hanson and Mrs. Sehnert as skippers. The first voyage was spent studying and getting acquainted with the rest of the crew and captains. The ship was steered to their first Homecoming where a member of the crew, Colleen Hoffman, was an attendant to the Queen. In the spring the ship dropped anchor to give the crew and captains a rest before the next voyage. The second voyage was begun on September lst, 1952 with 41 crew members. Mr. Ostendorf and Miss Comstock were the new skippers. The ship stopped at an island midway on the voyage for a scavenger hunt Another Homecoming rolled around and Carrolyn Hoffman was the attendant Mates Lyle Ashburn Nancy Houston Jack Bomar Carrolyn Hoffman Colleen Hoffman Gary Cox Sylvia Schwanebeck Jolene Epke Gary Lortz Barbara Thieman Ben Miles and Lyle Mullins served at the J un1or Senior Banquet The Pirateer again dropped anchor in the spring at the halfway mark of the journey The voyage of our Junior year began August 31 1953 with 40 mates and Mr Graff Mrs Lingenfelter and Mrs Wilson as skippers The Pirateer spent a night at Fog Island our Junior Class Play During the trip fourteen mates were captured and spent a day in court at the County Government Day A big day for the Pirates came in February when they looted forty beautiful gold FIHQS QClass rings of coursej Everyone was put on extra duty before reaching South Pacific the theme of our Junior Senior Banquet Many of the crew members excelled in sports and were given Pirate letters Mates Frances Loney and Lyle Mullins were representatives to Girls State and Boys State The Pirateer again dropped anchor to give crew members and skippers a FCSI before the final Journey The final voyage for the Class of 55 began in August 28 1954 Guiding the voyage were Mr Nelson Mr Graff and Miss Kraemer Last stop for Homecoming was celebrated with the coronation of King Queen and attendants The crew went A W O L on November 12 with a very enjoyable sneak day in Omaha A tragedy occurred when the entire crew was shot fW1th a camera that is J On April 29th the crew took time out to put on the play Junior Miss A curious group appeared on deck May 4th when slouch day was celebrated The Pirateer entertained the public at Class Night May 10th Baccalaureate was May 15th and on May l'7th 37 crew members walked the plank to receive their certificate of a successful voyage CThe1r diplomaj Thus the Pirateer dropped anchor at the end of the journey for the Class of 55 Sh1rley Ahlers Larry Anderson Lyle Ashburn .Tack Bomar Phyllis Boydston Edwin Christiansen Jolene Epke Elmer Friedrick Frances Hieter Carrolyn Hoffman Colleen Hoffman Glenda Zierke Jim Holmes Luanne Horst Nancy Houston Dwain Kieckhafer Anita Koehler Eugene Kudera Mark Kube Frances Loney Gary Lortz Benny Miles Lyle Mullins Darold Oltjenbruns Beverly Peterson Verlee Peterson Roberta Potter Karen Schaefer Naomi Schneider Sylvia Schwanebeck Kay Scranton Eileen Suhr Judy Synovec Jim Tawney Carolyn Thayer Barbara Thieman Marvin Theis Carol Volk Gary Welnrich Darlene White Leonard Wostrel Eugene Young ' .. . . ... 23 1234 . . ...1234 ' .. . ...1234 ' . ...1234 .
