A chapter of the Future Nurse of America was established in Plain- view H.S, this year. Mrs. Elizabeth McNeil, the school nurse is the group's advisor. The objectives of the club are to aquaint members with the opportunities offered in the different tielcls of nursing through Elms, group discussions and Held trips. A major accomplishment ot the F.T.A. is to promote the idea ot cadet teaching, whereby students can get a true picture of what teaching is like by actually teach- ing the lower grades. Plainview H.S. has one of the most advanced programs on the Island. The club advisor is Mr. Jacob Arneth. This is the second year that the Plainview High School Mathletes has entered a team in the Nassau County interscholastic Mathletics League Five times during the school year the team meets with other high schools to compete The president of the club is .lim Cleary, the advisor is Mr Alan Stone The function of the Debate Club is to help bring out the feelings on certain topics for discussion against other schools. This year the Debate Club participated in a discussion conclave in Englewood New Jer- sey, with many other schools throughout Long Island. The Girls Leaders Club has as its main functions, leadership, promo- tion of good sportsmanship, and service in gym classes. This year the club held an outdoor record hop in the school parking lot after the bonfire and football pep rally. They sold balloons, banners and shakers at football games. The president this year was Maria De- Santo, the advisor Miss Leona Ca- tallo.
