w f 1 e’re characters in a four act play called High School. The plot is thick with insecurity, kaleido- scope moods and rebellion. The theme is “growing up in the eighties.” The setting reflects the turbulence we feel — skid marks in the parking lot, graffiti on the desks, shrieks of laughter and anger and despair everywhere. The costumes are by Calvin Klein and Madonna and Playing at life Having fun; only Sometimes studying Each of us is different; we re experimenting now; a Potpourri of Radiant faces — Exotic or Silly or Solemn; complex Individuals Observing each other; Never Sure who we are. Springsteen and, of course, JCPenney. Clocks turn; years pass; styles and fads come and go; the scenes are played out, from fresh- man fears to senior celebrations. We take our final bows, knowing the play will continue, with younger actors, louder music, more bizarre costumes and different “stock lines,” but we have learned something here. In our search for individuality, we have discovered that we are all somehow the same, and the need for EXPRESSION is a universal theme, felt by every generation, transcending time.
