THE HIGH SCHOOL . . .CHANGES In 1949 when the first editions of the PLAINSMAN were issued, PHS was a three-story brick building, which stood where the Central Grade School playground is now. All of the Plainfield schools were located on the same lot. Construction of the present high school was begun in 1956. By the mid- 60's the three levels of schooling had been spread around the village. Since 1956 the high school itself has been the subject of many changes. Several additions have been made to the original building. Outside, a stadium, an observatory — ( it's not a storage shed?! ), and a second parking lot were built. In 1974 the Administration Building was built and by 1975 the school had a new music area, cafeteria, and auditorium. In thirty-one years the school has strived to keep up with the changing times.

FACES. . . CHANGE Faces are olways changing. There are new hair styles, cute faces, fashion eyeglasses on faces, and funny faces at PHS. Most boys wear their hair long, but unlike their 1960 counterpart, their hair is feathered, styled, and blown-dry. Girls wear their hair long or short or anywhere in between. There are faces of new freshmen. This year we have two different faces — Nina Biering, a Norwegian, and Sigrid Meiser, a German. Both are studying in the United States for a year. There are faces you expect to see together and there are faces you never expect to see together, but there are faces you will never I I Eat, drink and be merry 11 Some typical students of the 50's — recognize anyone?
