THINGS. . . CHANGE Almost anything a student looks at in our school has changed. Boy's letter jackets have changed dramatically. Students are still seen at each other's lockers, but as in the school's hallways, they are seen arm in arm instead of just holding hands. Shop classes have changed. The crowded woods shop of 1949 is now replaced with an industrial arts area, which includes a large woods shop, metals shop, and drafting and electronics rooms. And the library has now become a Media Center. Class rings are now heavier and more expensive. Students also have the choice of stone colors, engraving, and ring styles. The gym boasts a new scoreboard, which changed the looks of the gym wall. A cafeteria is something P.H.S. did not operate in 1949, and the students five years ago did not have the modern and efficient cafeteria we have now. Change has even struck the band, which as most students who attended football games know — has new uniforms.

CARS... CHANGE Very few students drove to school in 1 949, but on almost any day this year you can see two parking lots full of cars. In thirty- one years cars have changed from large bulky styling to a more compact and sleek style. We learn to drive in more comfortable cars, and we drive more than kids of a generation ago. Changes haven't taken place just on the outside, though. There is more power under the hood, bucket seats, AM FM radios, and 8-track or cassette tape decks. One of the biggest changes is that vans no longer mean beat up panel trucks, but rather they are recreational vehicles which are highly customized.
