FASHIONS. . . CHANGE In 1949 bobby socks, midi skirts, straight leg jeans, and bulky tweed coats were seen at PHS. Since then the lengths of dresses have gone up and down, hair styles have changed, and white T-shirts with sweaters have disappeared. Girls may now wear slacks and jeans, but styles ore changing back to tweeds, straight-leg jeans, and skirts. Boys still wear jeans, but T-shirts have returned with a new look — they carry slogans, rock group names, and advertisements. Boys can wear boots, and shirts aren't necessarily worn tucked in, as once required. The casual look is the current trend.

CARS... CHANGE Very few students drove to school in 1 949, but on almost any day this year you can see two parking lots full of cars. In thirty- one years cars have changed from large bulky styling to a more compact and sleek style. We learn to drive in more comfortable cars, and we drive more than kids of a generation ago. Changes haven't taken place just on the outside, though. There is more power under the hood, bucket seats, AM FM radios, and 8-track or cassette tape decks. One of the biggest changes is that vans no longer mean beat up panel trucks, but rather they are recreational vehicles which are highly customized.
