The 1968 Plainsman has correlated that theme with our everyday life and activities. There are many new additions to this year's book in a continuing effort to bring Plainfield's students the best possible account of the year's events in a descriptive and interesting manner. It is our hope that as you look in retrospect at the events and people of the 1967-68 school year, you will consider the words written herein and how they affected, and will continue to affect, your life. Editors, in order who portrayed the above: Mark Jones, Ken Nash, Nancy Hayward, Mary .lane Wenck, Larry Testa, Nat Rowell, Steve Sullivan, Pam Madison, Phil Martens, Gail Birthisel, Scott Jones, Dale Sandvall. 5

A teacher's job is to teach, but to be a truly outstanding teacher, one must show a real concern for his students, make the subject as interesting to them as it is to him, and most important, inject pride in learning. Mr. Ellis is all of these and more. He is a unique teacher in. that his classes are both interest- ing and informative. His corny jokes, his celebrity bulletin-board, his penny-tossing antics, and his eraser-behind-the-back-flips, a l 1 contribute to a well spent fifty- five minutes. But, he is even more than this. He can spot a puzzled look in a minute and makes sure the problem is remedied before going on. Mr. Ellis is vitally concerned with school affairs. He is one of 'those responsible for bringing a foreign exchange student to our school. In 1963, he was adviser to the Senior Class and to PLAINS- MAN and was responsible for both of their floats. The crowning of the queen and the arrangements for the bonfire were also under his supervision. Since his first year here in 1962, he has been involved in the PLAINSMAN, and has been ad- viser to the Quill and Scroll since 1966. He is very proud of his birth place, Wood River, which he in- sists was the starting place of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, al- though no history book will back him up. The 1968 PLAINSMAN is proudly dedicated to Mr. Ellis, who is proudly dedicated to the 1968 PLAINSMAN. ELLIS LAND SAD HAPPY 1 SHY
