SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS WALTER G. NIEHUS, B. Ed., AA.A. Illinois State Normal University University of Iowa University of Wyoming Supt. W. G. Niehus has completed twelve years in our school system. When he came he was faced with the problem of completing an unfinished grade school building. The problem of a terrific increase in enrollment has been with him constantly. However, he planned ahead and two more buildings were built and before the paint was dry, another addition to one of them. Now as this book goes to print, he is planning another large addition to accommodate the rapidly growing junior high. Besides his untiring efforts in the school building program, he has found time to guide and to help promote all other facets of the school system. A few out- standing examples might be the scholastic improvements, the successful rise in athletics, the expansion and achievements of the band and a continuance of a fine general attitude. The Plainsman editors and advisors, past and present, are indeed grateful — for it was Mr. Niehus who inaugurated the Plainsman, and much of its success is due to his efforts. We hope this, the twelfth volume of the Plainsman justifies his faith in us. 6
