Dedication In recognition of their untiring efforts in furthering athletics and good sportsmanship in this school, we dedicate this book to A. M. Trumpy and Wayne Stevenson, our high school football and basketball coaches. Under their guidance our teams have brought many honors to our school and community. First in Our Reflections W. G. Niehus, B. Ed.. M. A.; Illinois State Normal University, University of Iowa, University of Wyoming; Superintendent. Walter G. Niehus, superintendent of the Plainfield Schools, is a familiar figure to almost everyone in Plainfield. In the seven years he has served in this school there have been many improvements. Mr. Niehus' first year. 1948. was marked by the production of Plainfield's first yearbook, the Plainsman. That year also saw the beginning of Plainfield s cham pionship band, and the publication of the school newspaper, the Fielder. Good sportsmanship has become the rule rather than the exception in sports, classes, and school activities. During his administration athletics has gained new prominence as students were taught the importance of fair play. Mr. Niehus great interest in sports has been transmitted to the student body through his enthusiasm and loyalty. The past seven years have been years of growth and progress for Plainfield Schools and we hope that under the guidance of Mr. Niehus we will continue to expand to greater heights. 8
