Public Schools of Plainfield NEW JERSEY PLAINFIELD HIGH SCHOOL 950 Park Avenue - 07060 Ladies Gentlemen: Perhaps the greatest tribute I can bestow upon the Class of 88 would be to proclaim that I feel a strong kinship to all of you. I shall never forget you, nor the times we endured, our triumphs, our learning experiences, our seemingly unlimited growth and development, our struggle to make a difference at Plainfield High School and our community. In reflection, I recall that I entered Plainfield High School, as a new teacher, along with all of you. As a Freshmen teacher I eagerly took the challenge of becoming your class advisor. Thereafter, I made a promise to all of you that I would remain your advisor through the duration. Through those four years we moved forward, sometimes failing, yet always picking ourselves up, pushing forward. We have shunned the odds, climbed unsettled mountains, and finally now, we are able to see the light on the other side of the tunnel-and now that light is bleaming brightly, our hopes have be- come our realities. We have made a difference! However, my fellow Seniors(and I shall always be one of you) , I must caution you; difficult times lie ahead. Yet we will continue to grow and develop as human beings. I am confident that you all know that when there is growth and success there is always hard work and pain, and sometimes suffering. Yet, it will make us strong. I advise you to continue to strive towards excellence, be the best at whatever you decide to do. Take pride in your community, remain steadfast to your convictions. Set the tone for leadership in the 1990's and beyond. You are the future leaders of America. Take the leadership and pave the way for a new beginning. Share with the larger society your concern for the issues of our time. May we all never allow the issues of world hunger, poverty, and unfairness in our society and around the world to be convenitently hidden in the coffers of inattention and indifference. Lay claim to what you want and forever fight for yourself and your fellow humans, it is you who will improve yourself and society. I shall miss you, may God be with you always, with best regards, 7 aie Jeff Truitt, ee Advisor Advisor’s Message 15
