A Tribute To the Athletes It is with great pride that we dedicate these two pages to the athletes and the Spring Athletic pro- gram of Plainfield High School. Unfortunately, due to yearbook deadlines, we cannot feature the Spring sports as we do the Fall and Winter sports. The students who participate in the Spring of the year practice, work, and perform as diligently as the students involved in football, soccer, basketball, etc. We wish we could do as much for them as we do these other sports. We try to get team pictures of the Spring sports in the yearbook, but by mid-March, which is our final deadline, it is often uncertain who the team members will be, uniforms may not be available as yet, and any action shots are just out of the question. However, we want to acknowledge their efforts, their dedication, their team and school spirit. They do not have the fan support of football and basketball, but they are and always will be a vital part of the athletic program of Plainfield High School.

Plainfield High School is especially proud of its Art Department. And well it might be. During the course of the school year students work on various mediums allowing for growth in per- ception, appreciation and knowledge in the visual arts. In Fundamental of Art I, it is hoped that students will become consciously aware of their self-worth as individ- uals through the increased under- standing of art as it relates to human- ity. Fundamental of Art II is an exten- sion of Fundamental of Art I. It is in- tended for the student who wishes to explore the visual arts in more depth. Basic art skills are explored along with some art history, crafts and commer- cial concepts. For the serious art student there is fine and applied art. Along with the drawing and two and three dimension- al design concepts, there is the oppor- tunity to develop skills in oils, metal and wood sculputre, enameling, batik- ing, wood carving and silk screening. At this point careers are being explored and portfolios are beginning to devel- op. Fortunately for the students, they have the leadership, direction and in- spiration of the two competent mem- bers of the Department, Ms. Viviyanna Foreman and Ms. Debra Cupid. . a bias oan ae 12
