THE HENRY BANTA CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY OF PLAINFIELD HIGH SCHOOL The Henry Banta Chapter of the National Honor Society has continued to enhance its new image. Service activities for the year were: 1) the Fall program includ- ed a Christmas party for Plainsfield’s senior citizens at the new Plainfield Tower West, Career Day registration and ushering, Athletic Tutorial Program, and the total school tutorial program. 2) the Spring service programs included the Senior Citizens’ din- ner and Black History Program, the Blood Drive, the Junior Olympics at Hub Stein Athletic Field for special education stu- dents, and fund raisers. Two new activities sponsored by the N. H. S. were the Plainfield Bowl, organized by Thomas Donovan and the Computer Club, organized by Scott Deering. At the helm this year was Lisa J. Haynes who received the following honors in connection with the National Merit Scholar- ship Program: |) Letter of Commendation for outstanding perfor- mance on the Preliminary Scholastic Appitude Test National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, 1982. 2) Semifinalist — Na- tional Achievement Scholarship Program for Outstanding Negro Students. A Tribute To the Athletes It is with great pride that we dedicate these two pages to the athletes and the Spring Athletic pro- gram of Plainfield High School. Unfortunately, due to yearbook deadlines, we cannot feature the Spring sports as we do the Fall and Winter sports. The students who participate in the Spring of the year practice, work, and perform as diligently as the students involved in football, soccer, basketball, etc. We wish we could do as much for them as we do these other sports. We try to get team pictures of the Spring sports in the yearbook, but by mid-March, which is our final deadline, it is often uncertain who the team members will be, uniforms may not be available as yet, and any action shots are just out of the question. However, we want to acknowledge their efforts, their dedication, their team and school spirit. They do not have the fan support of football and basketball, but they are and always will be a vital part of the athletic program of Plainfield High School.
