In September of 1973, we began our freshman year with sparkles in our eyes. After the first weeks of confusion — learning names, wandering about the halls, finding classrooms, we settled down to serious work. With the aid of our new class advisor, Mr. Milt James, we began to transpose ourselves into the DYN-O-MITE (lasso 7 7. During the following year as sophomores, we felt the burning of desire and anticipation within us. We were under the leadership of President, June Bell, Vice-President, Valerie Anderson, Secretary, Debbie Muse, and Treasurer, Debbie Myers. We started to build a secure class treasury by holding a dance, entitled, “Dyn-omite Disce. When we returned to Plainfield High School as juniors, the Class of ’77 began another productive year. We could feel the excitement that started in us as freshman begin to rise. A number of us took the PSAT’S and some of us were inducted into the National Honor Society. We began to send away for information about colleges, universities and trade schools. Some of us started to investigate the job market. We held another class election, and Debbie Myers became president, Debbie Muse was elected vice-president, Logina Davis and Michelle Talley claimed the offices of treasurer and secretary respectively. Under the leadership of our class officers and advisor, our enthusiasm as well as our bank account began to increase. We were kept busy holding bake sales and dances. Special time and effort went into the production of the fashion show, “Everything is Coming Up Roses” in honor of our new superintendent of schools Dr. Ronald Lewis. In the fall of 1976, the excitement increased; the class of ’77 began its final phase. Once again, Debbie Myers, Debbie Muse, Logina Davis and Michelle Talley were elected as our class leaders. Debbie Wright was named as chairperson on the Prom Committee. Fund-raising events were held throughout the year including bake sales, dances, and selling of refreshments at certain sports events. In February the Class of 1977 held another fashion show entitled, ‘‘February Love’’, its theme of “Millionaire Affair.” A concert featuring Crown Height’s Affair and a spring carnival were also held in order to raise money. In the early months of 1977, we purchased school rings and were fitted for caps and gowns. These are symbolic tokens that label us as official seniors. seniors. The prom, which was held at the Chanticler in Millburn on June 17, 1977 marked the end of the most important and meaningful years of our lives to date. Although these years have ended, and the sparkles that were in our eyes as freshmen have since exploded, the time spent at P.H.S. will never be forgotten. The happy and the sad, the good and the bad of Plainfield High School will be held in a special corner of our memories for all the days to come. We may scatter all over the world and lead many different types of lives, however, the friends and influences of Plainfield High will always linger with us.
