S • ■■ i Lending A Helping Hand This year the development of one ' s values included religious service. The Senior Religion classes began a tradition visiting the patients at the West View Convalescent Hospital. They feel that it has added to their moral values, as well as getting to know old people well. The Seniors also hope that future Religion classes continue this practice. Another dimension of Pius Service is the Annual Blood Drive becoming semi-annual. The response was overwhelming, with 157 people signing up to donate blood, and only 71 actually donating. The toys and food drives during the most important holidays of the year, let children and adults of local parishes to have a bountiful table at Thanksgiving and gifts under the tree at Christmas. All in all. the students at Pius lend a helping hand, as well as gain something for their moral lives. ■Denise Hurst- service 27

Service . With academics at Pius being very demanding, the students also find time to help others that are of need and one may wonder - When do these things happen? Looking back in the past year, especially at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Lent, the students of Pius all contributed to the families in the surrounding parishes that were lacking the food or toys to make a wonderful holiday. The Student Council with the help of the Social Action Club, NHS and CSF, toys were wrapped, boxes of food and turkeys were bought and money was sent to help those that were less fortunate. Juniors and Seniors also provided one of the best things they could, and that was the gift of life. With organization and nervous Juniors and Seniors, the 3rd Annual Blood Drive was a suc- cess! T ' is The Season T ' is the season to be jolly as students eagerly prepared for Christmas vacation The dance was the beginning. The dance was sponsored by the Junior class, who spent hours in planning the festivities. Many of the students came in the latest winter and Christmas apparel The dance marked a first for Pius because invitations were sent to St, Joseph and St, John Bosco high schools to attend the dance. Many of the students took the opportunity to visit- Unfortunately, due to poor weather conditions, Santa was unable to guide his reindeer and sleigh to our part of the country.
