Father Matthew S. Delaney, lrom St. AIbert's Parish in Compton, was born in Tipperary, Ireland. He was educated at Mt. Melleray secondary school and col- lege where he completed his philosophy maior. He came to the United States in 1947 and spent four years at St. lohn's Seminary where he was ordained in 1951. He was assistant pastor at St. Francis Cabrini Parish in Los Angeles for over four years. From there, he came to Piux X. He has attended U. C. L. ll. and the adult education department of Immaculate Heart College from which he took his B. ll. in the field of mathe- matics. He has also done work in the graduate department of S. C. in the field of mathematics. His hobby is golf but it has suffered greatly since his teach- ing career began. Here at school, he teaches Algebra l and ll, General Math, and Trigonometry. Father Delaney explains one of the mysteries of simultaneous equations to B. Klotz and D. Liable. Emphasis is placed on speed and accuracy M Montoya, J. McMiIlen, and M. Perkins, as Sister Dorothy quizzes Sister Mary Dorothy, C. S. I., is a graduate of Holy Names College in Oak- land, where she completed her work in English. Having taught here at Pius X for several years, she is head of the Business Department. She is very inter- ested in sports, stating basketball to be a great favorite. She also enioys interior decorating and is especially interested in color schemes.

Cranham, our vice principal is one of the most popular of the Pius X faculty Besides his administrative duties, he teaches religion and mechanical drawing A great sports fan Father enjoys water skiing sailing and skiing He also takes flying lessons, and we have reason to believe he will become an ace pilot before long Father Cranham enjoys a rousing baseball game, but also finds great fun in watching football and basketball especially when the Warriors are winning! Father Wallace Daley, from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Downey, teaches history, civics, and speech here at Pius X. ll native of llberdine, South Dakota, he has spent most of his life in California. Father Daley enioys classical music and basketball in his spare time, but his greatest interest is travel.

,asv Sister Mary Erentrude, 0. S. F., continues her able instruction at Pius X tor the second year. Not only does she teach Algebra I and German I diligently, but she is moderator for the Junior Class. When she can take time out from her busy instructions, Sister Eren- trude enjoys traveling. having visited such places as Washington, Montana, and Canada. Says Father Duffy, Now, the. Blessed Trinity is a mystery. And these an QF ,Wk Father Eugene J. Hester-Duffy, from St. Rose of Lima Parish, obtained his B. A. degree from a Trappist Monastery in Ireland. He is greatly interested in the Dead Sea Scrolls and has travelled to lerusalem to do work in this field. Actually we find that Father is quite the traveler for he has also gone around the world. He teaches religion here at Pius X, but he has also taught in the Persian Gulf. His hobby is fishing, and knowing Father Duffy, we feel sure that he has some very interesting fish tales to relate.
