Sr. Concepta initiates S. Kelly and C. Bellevia with special tutoring on foreign policies. l Sister Mary Concepta, l.H.M., is a new arrival at Pius X. She teaches civics, his- tory, and English and she brightens her X lessons with a flavor of wit and charm. When she is not busy teaching, she en- ioys reading-however her favorite inter- est is travel. ,fgttzll Mr. lay Francis Conroy, from Our Lady of Good Council Parish, obtained a B.A. degree in philosophy at Loyola University. His chief interest is Philosophy, but he also enioys collecting, and listening to, records. He is the moderator of our cross-country team this year, and from the result of his efforts, the boys have done a fine job. He teaches English to many boys and girls at Pius X. lunior girls, G, Gasporra and C. Annis dem- onstrate Mr. Conroy's theory that diagram- ming is an all important step in learning correct usage. 27

Cook, and Mrs. Calderog kneeling: T. Jimenez, l. Lucero, V, Dominguez, C. Olivas, B. Shaw and T. Merino. Mrs. Eva E. Caldero, a member of St. Emydius Parish, is a native of Taft, California. This is her second year at Pius X. She teaches physical education, and is in charge of the Freshman G. A. A. and volleyball team. She is naturally very interested in sports, but her hobbies are art, sewing, and cook- ing. Mrs. Caldero has travelled throughout Mexico with her husband and three children. Sister Mary Claude, C. S. J., devotes much of her time teaching Spanish at Pius X. When she can spare a few minutes however, she enjoys puttering in the garden, and listening to music, preferably 26 classical. Another hobby of Sister Claude's, is her keen interest in the study of architecture. One would think she would barely be able to find time for all of her activities, but she has travelled extensively in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. lt's not hard for Sister Claude to ex- plain the development of American lit- erature when she has such interested Juniors as C. Martinez, S. Santillo, and P. Neary.

Cranham, our vice principal is one of the most popular of the Pius X faculty Besides his administrative duties, he teaches religion and mechanical drawing A great sports fan Father enjoys water skiing sailing and skiing He also takes flying lessons, and we have reason to believe he will become an ace pilot before long Father Cranham enjoys a rousing baseball game, but also finds great fun in watching football and basketball especially when the Warriors are winning! Father Wallace Daley, from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Downey, teaches history, civics, and speech here at Pius X. ll native of llberdine, South Dakota, he has spent most of his life in California. Father Daley enioys classical music and basketball in his spare time, but his greatest interest is travel.
