A lively debate goes on in Sr. Hostia's class: RESOLVED THAT THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS THE PARTY OF THE WORKINGMAN. History is the record of man and all he has done and thought. The Pius X boy or girl approaches the study of history prepared to examine not only the data of science but also what Divine Rev- elation teaches. Man's achievements and advances, on the one hand, his failures and retrogres- sions on the other, challenge the thoughtful student to avoid the mistakes of our ancestors and to profit by their innumerable contributions to help us make more progress in our efforts to become better citizens of a better world. In our study of Civics we follow very closely the organization and operation of our own gov- ernment under the oldest constitution in the world while we learn that by being good Catholics we cannot help being good Americans.
