the producer calls, Won stage 9' To the producer this year book is dedicated . . . ln the bustle of activity and the aura of excitement that engulf the company, there is a tendency to forget that the producer is the very life and foundation of the production. Although he is seldom seen, the company is aware of his presence, criticizing, applauding, but always encouraging each to display his very best. From his place beyond the footlights, the producer sets the tone of the production, continuously looking ahead past the rigor of rehearsal and the tedious training period to opening night. Never losing sight of this goal, he calmly pilots the directors and company through the production schedule. To the directors, the producer is the one to whom they can always turn when rehearsals balk or the actors seem unfit for the part. He is the unlimited source of advice that strengthens them with enthusiasm to begin their work anew . , . To the stars, the producer is the one who demands quality of performance and perfection in re- hearsals. To iustify his faith in them, they strive to live up to the high standards he has set for their starring role . . . To the rest of the company--the co-stars, supporting cast and crew-the producer is the impartial critic and the silent applause who stands apart and gives purpose and meaning to their efforts . . . This holiness is the recognition of the supernatural in human actions, which are animated by grace and referred to God through Charity. As we study the life of Pius X we find these elements of supernatural grace and charity illustrated in the ordinary things of daily life, as well as the extraordinary accomplishments of his special qualities.
