JJ 1 SENIOR HISTORY Four years ago on September 5 1927 twenty sex en trembllng awk ward looklng freshles entered the PIttSXlll9 Hlgh School To our great rcllef we found that the seats asslgn ec' to us were ln a room of our own w here we could escape the odd looks and grlns from the upper classmen When we were begmnlng to un derstand our work two of the pu pxls Marle Behsellch and Stexe Qhlmkus wxthdrew and Beulah Gage yolned us What awful moments and what harrowmg thoughts were devel opxng IH our minds wlth the thought of the 1n1t1at1on drawlng near VIS lons of ourselves belng dragged to a tombstone or ducked 1nto a tub of water plaved before our tear bedlm We soon became accustomed to the school routme and took part ln many school 3CtlXltl69 At the end of the nlne months we had successfully completcd our freshman year if Our sophomore class now con slsted of twenty two m e m b e rs Loulse Huff Connie De Wltt and Ruth Mlnor falled to Jom us Ellxs lfox Charles Chrlstensen Almond kreb and Lawrence Sow atzke wlth drew and Bobb1e Hofer Jolned us The memory of the good razzlng we had when we were freshles was fresh 1n our mmds The freshmen 1r1t1at1on was gn en ln Not ember A return party was gnen by them ln December As JllI'llOl'S we numbered slxteen Norman Werner and Louls Reschel Jomed our ranks but soon dropped N01 ma Hayes and Leona Kelp falled to return We strued to keep up our school Splrlt by the publlcatlon of the Junlor Pep We helped take part ln all the school actlvltles Fern Mehlbrech was chosen Queen to represent the Jun1o1 class ln the Carnlval gnen by the shool We were represented ln ath letlcs by Chester Tyjeskl and Robert Hofer Arlene Waldo brought us hon ors IH taklng part ln the declamatory contest We were lookmg toward thc scnloz year Wlth a feeling of success After three years of hard strug gle we at last could call ourselx es semors Fourteen of us were d1st1n gulshed wlth thls honor Ruth Wer ner and Elolse Brown dld not Joln us Chester Tyjeskl dropped after a few weeks of school and Erx ln Stem Jom ecl us We were 'lgaln represented ln lthl9t1CS by Robert Hofer and Erxln Stem Fern Werner was chosen as the most honorable glrl and Robert Hofer as most loxable boy for the Carnn al contest We could gne you a gllmpse of' the SOC13l part of our class lxfe or we mlght tell of the characterlstlcs of 1tS xarlous members but these mem orles are too preclous for the pen and better untold Once thls was our goal but now success has mox ed from the hlgh school door out Into the w1de hlgh school door out into the wlde A1 Page 12 fr fk A 4 l f 1 u 0 0 s Q.: 0 0 - .J l rf H fl v w I 1 .
