Its aim is the establishment of policy for the direction of the entire school system. During the past year, we know that the Board has held many educational meet- ings with members of the school staff. We know too, that the members are busy with plans for a new building program. Our class wishes to thank each of them for their efforts to keep our school among the very best. Herbert C. Bettinger District Principal 10 Arnold T. I’m sure that you share this sentiment with me. However, it is most significant that this year and past years have been marked by steady accomplishment. Graduation concludes this phase of your performance, but it is only a pause in the master plan for developing your potential to its fullest. he class of 1964 is the largest to graduate from Pittsford High School. Its size is indicative too of the great reservoir of talent that resides within. Academics, athletics, dramatics, creative writing, art, music, and other fields of endeavor feel the beneficial impact of your many contributions. We thank you for all of this and for imparting guidelines to those who follow. As the future unfolds itself, continue to apply your qualities of optimism, enthus- iasm, and sense of responsibility to the tasks that arise. The adult world needs your capacity for achievement. Set your goal high and ready boldly for it. Most sincerely, 2 Chee Arnold T. Carlson High School Principal 22 Dick Alderman, Pres. Jane Jedd, Tres. Karen Sainsbury, Vice Pres. Fred Quivey, Sec. Each of us had a wonderful and unforgetable experience, and we are proud to be a part of the at- tempt to bring greater friendship and understanding among the peoples of the world. We would like to thank all those who made this program possible. “Kuitos Paljon!”? Carol Simmons, AFS to Finland “Tack sa mycket!” Tom Lilja, AFS from Sweden ‘Vielen Dank!” Lily Spring, AFS from Switzerland HILIGHTS The 1964 Hi-Lights staff extends its thanks to everyone who expended time and effort on the yearbook publication, and as we struggled to iden- tify pictures, check spelling, and type copy. We ap- preciate the patience of the administration and faculty during the three-day chaos of photography. Our special gratitude is extended to Mr. Kreiser, who spent many hours after school and on Sat- urdays planning with us. We hope the 1964 Hi- Lights will preserve an enduring remembrance of the events of this year and, in broader perspective, of those years of our life that we now leave, feeling both anticipation and regret. No matter what kind of a career appeals to you, there is an excellent chance that you can begin it right here. And the be- ginning is half the battle won. It goes without saying that the first step is your formal educa- tion — as much as you can get. Employers look for this first. The next thing they look for is “brightness.” And one key to “bright- ness’ is how much you actually know about the kind of work you're going after. This is something you don’t inherit from any- body. It is information you gather in advance for yourself — from parents, teachers, counselors, and friends. Most important — employers themselves are always ready to explain their standafds and requirements. Your idea of the best career for your particular talents may change, as you acquire more and more information about different fields of work. But when you decide what you want to do, some employer in the Rochester area will really want you — because by analyzing yourself, you have made yourself valuable.
